Marbles and Toys Showcased at Historic Burlington Antiques & Art Emporium the Month of June As a collector you have heard the expression "I Lost My Marbles" over and over again. Well The Historic Burlington Antiques and Art Emporium has plenty of marbles and they will be on display the entire month of June. The game of marbles has been played ever since there have been children. Marbles have been found in Roman ruins, The Pyramids in Egypt and in the Indian mounds of North America. Collectors value each marble by type, condition, size and eye appeal. The most important determinant of marble value is the rarity of the type. The Marble Collectors Society of America classifies marbles in three groups - Hand Made Glass, Hand Made Non-Glass, and Machine Made. Shoppers of the Emporium will view the following examples in all three categories of marbles; post cards, games, advertisement items, hat pins and jewelry trays. The National Marble Tournament was first held in 1922. The 88th Annual Tournament is in Wildwood NJ on June 19-23. Boys and girls between the ages of 8 to 14 who pre-qualified in local or State Tournaments will begin on May 20th at Ringer Stadium at 8:00 AM. For more information call 304 337-2764 or visit www.NationalMarblesTournament.org.

Remember your 10th birthday, you rip open your presents with lighting speed with excitement and there it is; the truck, the train set, the doll etc. you wanted more than the Birthday cake and ice cream. Some people say, "There is a child in everyone," with memories of childhood pleasures you remember your favorite toy or toys and a collection is born. Collecting vintage and antique toys has grown in the past 50 years. Collectors are paying thousands of dollars for mint toys in original boxes from the 1800's and the early 1900's. The Burlington Emporium will showcase antique and vintage toys during the month of June. Shoppers will enjoy the hunt for that special toy that brought a smile to your face as a child.
